then you understand my comparison. When nuclear energy is properly regulated, it sounds like a great idea, until the reality of future governments, rising sea levels, wars, economic collapse or whatever may happen crumbles that fantasy.

Similarly, workers without a union would be fine assuming a capitalist society that respects the lives, time and health of workers. Once the realities of capitalism and systemic inequalities are thrown into the equation, workers have no seat at the table. With unions, there is at least a chance of a fair deal. Are unions corrupt? Absolutely, but under the current system, I see no other way to give workers a reasonable voice (mutualism, anarchism, anarcho-socialism aside)

The problem is you need to get your head out of the 40s and 50s. It's 2020. Get real.

I was a cop. I was in the cop union. I get it. I also get that the only thing that the PBA did for us was negotiate salary increases with the State... and uniform allowance, shit like that. Now I know that union power is a function of member size but I also see how cop unions in big cities have clearly led to the problems we are seeing today.

Police unions are the true bane of this country. They are the main cause of the racial issues facing the country now. They foster a toxic environment. BTW, how's your pension? The disability you're collecting? Your weekends? Your labor law protections? Unions built this country. And I predict that they will be making a comeback as a new mindset takes hold in the US after years of right wing, deep pocketed efforts to wipe them out completely.

Police unions are the bane...but all other unions get a pass?
Only in the minds of the educationally and mentally challenged. I never collected a penny of disability. I could count on one hand the number of weekends I had off in my career, so I don't know what the Fuck you're rambling about, likely you don't either.
I already stated that police unions, at least large urban departments, are part of our current problems.
You were never on the job, so you don't have a clue about what it's like, so maybe you should just shut the fuck up.

LOL. "on the job"? Nah, and I don't know the secret handshake either. Weekends for workers in a "normal" job are what I was refering to. And don't think every reply I post is directed to one of your drunken rants. just go count the money from your big score. And taste that barrel.

This has to be one of the stupidest comments I have ever seen on this forum, regardless of your feeling about unions.
