    I believe it.
I guess after Nat won '66 in San Diego Witzig felt confirmed in his Surfer Magazine "We're Tops Now" article.......... of course he didn't include Farrelly in the group!

Too bad, the info I draw from comes from not only Graham, but from guys that have been (or were) in the surfboard industry in Oz for decades. Guys that know the score. Midget is legend in OZ, uh, speaking of LEGENDS........ lol.

He also became the most advanced supplier of quality surfboard foam in Australian history and considered by many world shapers as producing the best polyurethane surfboard foam ever.

Midget contacted me thru Swaylocks some years ago and asked if he could call me. We chatted for nearly an hour and he was a true gentleman and class act.

It was quite an honor in my book.

    Spot on.
Graham surmised that the stateside surf publications suppressed what was happening in OZ with the Greenough inspired "short board revolution" as the big American board companies had built large inventories awaiting summer for shipment to the East Coast.

Bill Bahne once told me that Dewey Weber was hyping all the major West Coast labels to jack (fix) their prices even higher to the Eastern seaboard, that it was "a virtual gold mine" ripe for fleecing. But as things like this happen (going shorter), word leaked back over phone lines to the states and the die was cast. We all started stripping our perfectly beautiful longboards to shape shorter, more maneuverable, counterparts. We can thank George for that, not an Australian, and most Aussies still claim that Greenough is more Aussie than Santa Barbarian.

    Love it!

I picked up an 8'6" V bottom, a Chocolate Fish Billy model, a few weeks ago, and have been pretty stoked on it in small waves so far. Understand that the design has its limitations, but it does what I want when I'm not riding my surf mat or hulls.

    Thanks for representing.

People all over the world are embracing them, and that is a pretty cool thing for the uh, "surfboards that didn't work" according to some guys back in '67-'68........ TrachtBtmTurnCloseup.jpg
