This morning was small but clean and fun.

But I got hit again and ended my session way too early and currently burning my foot soaking in hot water.

How do you deal with the little devil fish?

I was very intentional about not stepping when I could paddle, but I got it in ankle deep water as I was coming in to grab my board. I shuffle shuffle shuffle and bam got hit on the top of my foot. Wtf.

You got it. I only went there because a friend was coming from riverside and didn’t want to drive to San O.

When I lived up there and surfed at Bolsa, I’d get stung at least once a year. I’d shuffle whenever I had to touch bottom, and paddle as soon as I could, but there’s times they’d get you anyway. Also there’s always that time you get off your board to start your way in and get hit immediately. Sucked.

I've sworn off surfing LJ beachbreak in the summer. It's like playing Russian roulette with only one empty chamber. Between late May and early Sept I shuffle into ankle deep water and then flip my board over and paddle out upside down. I kook it all the way in as far as my board will carry me when leaving. Last year I got hit within 3' of dry sand, barely ankle deep. And I shuffled into the f*cker and he tagged me anyhow. It just isn't fair.

That is one thing I don't miss about San Diego. Small price to pay, though.
