Possible San Onofre surf trip

Looking forward to experiencing San O .
How far of a walk is it from the parking lot ? Wife will be with me so I’ll need to make sure she knows what she’s signing up for
Any other info or tips that would help?

Unfortunately, not as much sand as pictured above.
The recent king tides ate up more of the beach.
Hopefully all of the winter rain so far will bring back some more sand.

With the lack of sand, about 10 steps from car to waters edge at the point to about 20 steps at Old Mans. So much beach erosion the last few years.

And big west swell due to hit thursday, we'll see how much sand survives by the weekend. Still a fun place to surf, your wife should be fine. Bring food for lunch and make a day of it.

Doheny is a fun logging wave. Always been a friendly crowd and fairly easy to get waves when I’ve been. Admittedly that’s been pre Covid.

Dana Point is itself is a nice place to stay and convenient for San o too

San O and Doheny are great places to travel to. I took two trips with the kids last year and we had a great time. We are planning another for August this summer. The vibe at San O during the summer is great. Lots of families, bbqs, smiles and fun waves. Have fun!
