That link is more than 10 years old. Cyrus Sutton published Riding Waves, around 2005 or 2006. John was in his late 50's at the time. The video also featured Rob Machado, Donovan Frankenrieter (sp?) and a very young Dane Reynolds.

Pulled this board out of my attic this morning in preparation for an August surf trip. John shaped for himself in the early 1990s; 9'9" x 20" x 3". I remember having some great waves on it at big hanalei bay around 2007/2008, in my mid 20's. This was an influential board in my surfing life. Down rail all the way around; very little concave up front; sprial vee out the back. Walker foam with redwood stringers and volan cloth; doily slip-check rasta spray job, shroud of Turin nose detail.

Will let John know you guys were all thinking about him on his birthday.

I remember John Peck well from surfing the Rincon during the summers of 1967 and 1968 and seeing him in the lineup as well as him in the audience at the concerts at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, He, Bob Cooper, Renny Yater and Terry Jones were our local surf stars. He was at least 7 years older than I was so if he is still surfing halfway decent at his age, I salute him.
