A lot of the parking garages at the ocean front are completely empty right now, I've been hoping between them doing some down hill runs on my Carver. Almost pooped my pants a few times but it's been a blast.

I’m not sure I’d qualify this as a hobby:

    smoking meat.

I used to shop 3 times a week or something. I’d usually do it on my way home from work. With the frequent shopping I wouldn’t focus on purposefully creating “left overs”.

however, over the past few months, I just leave my canyon once a week. So I’ve been buying 5-10 lbs of meat each trip. Usually some chicken and some beef. I’ve done a tremendous amount of tri tip, brisket, and top sirloin caps. Eat little meat bowls all week.

    mainly using hickory wood.

look into a sous-vide cooker. I enjoy cooking a lot too. You mentioned tri-tip. I feel like I’ve pretty much dialed in the perfect tri-tip. Cold smoked for 2 hours at 150, then sous vide at 132.5 for 8 hours, finished in a cast iron skillet for sear. Coast to coast medium rare, tender, with a non-overpowering subtle smoke flavor.

A crowd of 10 firefighters can be pretty harsh critics, but this gets rave reviews every time.

I feel this. I run the cast iron sear finish as well. However, I have this rig that guns 250. So that’s it. Constant. I’ve figured it out. Size of chip, frequency of replenish... all that.

    your tri tip looks TITS.

Don't know where you are planning on breaking that gear in but be aware that trout season opening has been delayed until June 1. I hear tickets are being written, and no lodging options are open in Inyo or Mono county until then. Good time to practice casting. What weight/rod length did you choose?
