I have a 6'6 Fiji in the queue. I saw a guy flying at a head high Mexican point and immediately put in my order.

I'm curious about how this board goes in the smaller lackluster surf in LA. Anyone have experience riding one of these on a average el porto day?
I have a very similar Mike Geib and surf porto regularly; only take it out when its pushy and/or chest to OH for what its worth.

6’ 4”, 6’2”, and 5’10”.
Prepping for a trip to Siargao Cloud 9 with the wife. Not sure if I’m bringing all 3 but definitely 2. Traded a 6’6” diamond tale fiji for a 6’4” round tale and traded another jammer for the 6’2”. I’ve ridden the 5’10” the most since it rides like an everyday shortboard. Surf ocean beach SF mostly so I’m stoked to try these in different conditions.

Hmm
MOTE opens up the order book Feb 1... anyone planning on ordering?

Haven't ridden any yet but given the reputation here I'm considering ordering a Massive around 7'10 to handle the slop we get here in LA/OC to fit in between by 6'10 CC Long Phish and 8'6 DR Megafish
I wouldn’t order a Massive for LA slop, personally. I have a 7’4 and it definitely likes a large wave, or a small clean and very zippy wave. I think itd be another board that you’d end up reviewing as “it’s sweet but it definitely comes alive in good surf”

I have a 6’6 triple stringer fiji as well that I love to death. But again, it only really works (and I’ll only take it out) when there’s some push. I have other boards for those lackluster days.

I’m in the queue for another although haven’t locked in model etc. Torn between another mid 6’ fiji or another Massive that is a little shorter (7’2) and a little sleeker.

Also worth noting: ive let a bunch of friends in the water try out the Massive because they’re super curious and drooly. These folks are really good surfers and ride all sorts of surf craft. All of them have thought it was a very hard and quirky board to surf.

Super helpful review, thanks! The "sweet but comes alive in good surf" is exactly what I was worried about, speaks directly to my soul.

Can confirm this. @shadownbxn got that 6'2 Fiji from me, I let it go because it needed such a fast, cuppy, clean wave that we just don't get often enough out here. Great travel board but I'm nearly always on a Pyz Ghost when I'm in waves like that.

Plug for the AuGoGo, Simon seems to have figured out how to make his designs work in less than perfect waves. I've been riding it non-stop over the last month and it really seems to have the drive and pivot to work in a beach break / softer point.

same here, mine is 6'4 and i love it in size and agree about it needing some push and steepness. great board for the conditions it needs, meh when its small (not a complaint, just an assessment)

We are all guilty of this, or at least i am and also hear it a lot: We order a custom board, spend a bunch of money, wait a super long time, only for the board to sit and to not be used because "it likes a good wave", even though we know that we rarely get big, perfect surf.
