Thank you everyone for the suggestions, that diamond tail on the MPE is really nice looking, crescent tails on longboards look really cool too. I’ve always gravitated towards shorter boards so the longboard realm is new to me and I haven’t ridden one since I started surfing as a teenager.

Seems the general consensus is that under 8’ and you get too far away from a longboard feeling….

Check out the furrow coastal cruiser

“The Coastal Cruiser was born from the idea of wanting to make a "big" board with maximum surface area that would be easy to travel with. Combining a round Stubbie nose and a full wide squash tail, the Coastal Cruiser was born. If you looking for a bigger volume board that you can still shred, a board that you can hold your own surfing with hyper groms after work, or just looking for something that would be a great all around board for fun days, this is the board for you !”

I’m 6’0 and a little under 180.

The colapintail looks really nice and very “longboardish” outline kind of like a shrunk down 9ft + board

I have owned both the Takayama Scorpion in 7'2 and the 8'9 Colapintail

Scorpion is a weird board. Its extremely fast and I mostly took it out in bigger days as I would prefer proper longboards for smaller days. I surfed it as a quad and it has that really nice skatey feeling. For me it wasnt the best match as I found the huge nose to get in the way in the types of waves I used it in.

Colapintail is also a weird board. Front end is quite loggish but then you have this sharp pintail and hard edges in the back. I really liked it and still miss it somewhat. You can surf it very longboardy but in center trim it has that great midleghth feel. As soon as you hit center trim the board accelerates like crazy. Hang/cheater fives are a breeze and its very nimble. Unfortunately mine broke in half.

Personally I would go for the 8'3 Colapintail as the scorpion is just too much of a weird gimmick
