What are the best fin boxes for traditional low aspect keel fins? And,what fins would people recommend?

The fish is my preferred board right now and I'd like to have one made I can travel with.

The industry has shifted to Futures
but this forces the fin base to be shortened as you see in their keel sets
a design flaw in their system and not a function based decision
The best option is to have Rainbow Fin Co. make you a set of Pavel keels in FCS
give them to the shaper and make sure they set the placements to those fins in FCS Fusion system
    6 3/8" up
1 3/8" in from the rails
    1/16" toe over 4 1/2" length
    6 degrees cant
Or I can make one for you with fins :)

Thank you for the advice. I thought the consensus would be futures but I don't like the way the keel fins are modified.

I have a board that I absolutely love so I'm going to take a to a local shaper to have it duplicated but with boxes. The tail is a little more pulled in than a traditional fish and the keels have some toe and cant. Ive had countless smile inducing sessions on it.

I would suggest you look at the Gear Box system. They have color around the box to resist collapsing the the foam around the box from all the pressure and forces on the box. You can also choose the angle of the cant. Been useing them for a few years now. They except a two tab fin.

I wonder if anyone makes a keel set that works in a bahne box. I'd like to avoid twin tabs with low aspect keels and bahne boxes would theoretically allow for the longest base possible. I wonder if Jeff at nine lights or 101 fin co. Has anyone seen this setup?

This was the genius behind Lok box. Rainbow fin will still make them for you. Talked with Gene about it. Getting boxes is easy. Great system until you’re in heavy kelp.

Ace Surfboards in San Diego has just made a 10’ twin fin that used two Fu boxes. He has in the past made Zingers. In fact he was the one the came up with the idea and did the RandD when he was shaping foe Eaton. The Zinger used two long boar center fin Box’s and a fixed Canard fin

FCS ripping out with keels was a first generation problem
Fusions capped with glass are problem free

    Just as a distraction, , , , , I made this "keel" about 45 years ago.
