I've been really enjoying some of the older video of involvement style surfing. Not pure pigs or popcicle stick outlines but the inbetween outlines where there's still curves/wide point is back. Noserides only happen toght in the pocket. Who out there makes these? Minus the sam, which has been beat to death in other threads. Really liked the looks of the harbor evolver and mr. Hilbers shapes. Post up your involvement board porn, videos, and anything interesting "involvement".

These are the shapes I've Been on for the last four years or so. They just work!

No one was making them over here so I ended up with a couple of customs. This one is available as a stock board from Gulfstream now. The slimpig

Jc nelsons new company does the Aussie slasher which looks good. McTavish make one, I think Harrison roach through deus. The dead kooks and Thomas bexon labels do a version as well

This one is 9'4 also but thinner and more foiled, shaped by my mate Randall who used to work at classic Malibu in Noosa. Template is borrowed from Dane Peterson (who he's friends with - similar to Danes purple board he's often photographed on) Rode this right down the Ca coast three years ago and it went awesome in the points. Got quite a few admiring comments too!

also see here - cj on his aussie slasher model

Tommy Witts new Takayama pro model is along those lines

As is Devon Howards old pro model with Takayama or the newer throttle model he's been working on with Tyler.

Worth noting that with my boards pictured above, the bottom shape is not very hully unlike the son of sam models. Mine have a subtle concave up front then a pretty flat bottom rolling up at the edges into a soft but quite pinched rail. Both have quite a lot of tail kick too

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg CJ Nelson and Ian Chisholm and Cory Colapinto are working on designs for a longer involvement board: they currently offer 8'3"/8'9" http://cjnelsondesigns.com/surfboards/colapintail-1/
I have CJ's 10' en route and I can't wait to ride it, I have ridden the slasher once and on that basis I can't really give a ride report but I came out grinning same with the Sprout - CJ kills it and so does Cory. All of CJ boards are hand shaped by Ryan Engle or Chizza. Or get the real 1967 thing like a G&S Farrelly NR

Yeah!! All great stuff. I picked up a slasher to try and while it's a good board I prefer a little more edge in the tail and a touch more nose rocker. I think that's why the evolver seems to make sense. CJ's boards and build quality appear to be really nice

Believe it or not, I love my 8-6 fat egg with a farberow flex. It wants me to turn and stall and all that good shit. Makes me look better than I am. Lol.

I have a manual Mustang. Involvement is best in everything fun - keeps you present. Automatic just means I can think about other shit which is the antithesis of surfing' raison d'etre
