Fun little surf session with bunch of friends at Bolsa yesterday... water was warm, minimal wind... friends in the water. Good times. Friend shooting pics of everyone surfing.

Friends and I have been tracking this swell in the North Pacific over the past week, and scored big time this weekend - the best surf I've had in over a decade. We left for a remote island at the crack of dawn, 3h boat ride through open ocean accompanied by pods of dolphins at the bow of our boat. Came back at night after a glorious sunset and breaching whales along the way. Solid 10ft faces on the bigger sets, but mostly 6-7ft consistent sets 500ft long with wide barrels. A channel made it super easy to get back to the lineup and I didn't have to duck dive more than twice. Surfed 5h non-stop with my 3 buddies, and can't feel my shoulders today. Get out of your comfort zone, go out there and explore!

What a gorgeous morning. Dolphins and seals playing in the waves. Pelicans dynamic soaring with the energy in the water, flying in formation like nature's Top Gun school. My highlight wasn't a particular wave caught, but duck diving under a few brilliant orange perfect glass cylinders, like a moving and immersive Chihuly exhibit.
The ocean is rad. *

* I swear no edibles were consumed, it was just a beautiful fall day.

It really was a special start to the day today: water was crystal clear, tons of garibaldis under cruising the reef, crisp offshores. Fall is the best.

i have had the week off from work and surfed 6 days in a row at Oceanside harbor. Its been good all week but Monday. Glassy 3' ish waves all week that have peeled nicely due to the offshore morning winds. I think i rode 4 different boards from 7'6"to 9'6". As mentioned above water was crystal clear. There was a group of Shovelnose Sharks roaming about today that i could see perfectly in about 5'
I will say i feel the water temp has dropped a degree each day.
Overall a great week of surfing. I was feeling it today I was for sure a bit sloppy on my log today and lost it twice... after the second i called it and went to my second graders Thanksgiving Play o_O

Messy since I've been out here until the wind and tide switched this afternoon. A little walled up, but some makeable barrels. The lighthouse was getting a little crowded and I didn't want to be the fat guy on a big board annoying the kids so I found a peak up a little north with me and one other guy.

I wished I'd brought something besides two gliders this trip. If I was in shape enough to ride my 6'10" quad it would have been perfect. Got into a couple little barrels, but didn't make it out of any. Still fun.

Some of the sets got a little bigger than this picture. I'd say consistently waist to chest with occasional shoulder+ sets.

So Covid sucks and I missed the run of pumping swell we’ve had the last two weeks but I am recovered enough to catch the tail end of it.

It definitely feels like winter but being the tail end of the swell it was quiet and just the right side of offshore windy……

This could be one of the longest noserides I’ve had at this beach…..
