Following some of the recent threads, including my own, on backpaddling, drop-ins, kooks in general, I decided to rethink things yesterday.

Built in an extra hour into my planning and skipped the central spots and instead headed a little off the beaten path. Very south end of a known parking lot, short hike through the forest and over the dunes to see a nice little left peeling out front. But with ten or so people already on it I just walked south, checking peaks as I went. Maybe a short half a mile down found a little outlet with solid rights on the better sets and short lefts in between.

With my eyesight going, couldn't see a soul in either direction. Just the dunes, the ocean, and a pretty fun little peak. Nobody else around meant no position hassles, every good set wave... a nice change.

Sometimes simple is good.

No surf for me today but I did watch some proper gliding. The U-2 was flying today at Miramar Airshow, doing some mesmerizing "effortless" turns in the sky, like a pelican over water. Stoked!

Another fun day at the pt..
marine layer shrouded the peaks
Keep the crowd done
Narrow window of being cloaked
And the tide and crowd…
Increased exponentially

Well off for a fun filled day
Get youngest daughter a bigger wetsuit..
Older daughter b-day
And wifey has a dance showcase in
Downtown Santa Cruz..tonight
her and her girls
Later
