Following some of the recent threads, including my own, on backpaddling, drop-ins, kooks in general, I decided to rethink things yesterday.
Built in an extra hour into my planning and skipped the central spots and instead headed a little off the beaten path. Very south end of a known parking lot, short hike through the forest and over the dunes to see a nice little left peeling out front. But with ten or so people already on it I just walked south, checking peaks as I went. Maybe a short half a mile down found a little outlet with solid rights on the better sets and short lefts in between.
With my eyesight going, couldn't see a soul in either direction. Just the dunes, the ocean, and a pretty fun little peak. Nobody else around meant no position hassles, every good set wave... a nice change.
