HOW IMPORTANT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE TO YOU?

An island somewhere
What I do is pack the boards securely in full bubble wrap before slipping the board into a quality 5mm board bag which I make available to customers @ my cost. In this case $35. So with Amtrak & new bag total cost for transport is $100. Clear sanded 5 fins including fins run $650 so for $750 you have a new custom board delivered to Oakland station in your new board bag.

Damn, bag for $35 plus Amtrak shipping is amazingly cheap. That's got to be $200+ to send UPS or Fedex, no?

That would be correct. Not only that, Fed Ex sometimes treats them like sh-t whereas Amtrak sends surfboards as "Baggage". I have the option of boxing them if the customer desires it, but why would you unless you already have a good bag. $105 for a surfboard to the East Coast maximum total length of 10 feet. $85 to Texas, Oregon & Washington from my base in Santa Barbara, even shipped to Whitefish, Montana for my Canada guys in Calgary. Oakland to San Diego from SB........ all $65. Insurance is $1/$100 coverage up to $2K. If you request it on the Amtrak Waybill, they CALL the customer upon arrival, then hold it for 48 hrs. before putting it in secured storage @ $10/day. Some stations charge only $5/day.

HOW GOOD IS THAT?
