Mahalo for all the input, much of the advice resonated, and so after a back and forth with Tim, Stamps now is building a lighter 10'6 epoxy RP speed shape with more template and rocker curve than a classic parallel railed, low rockered pin glider...should work well in steeper, snappier beachbreak and have more of an upper range as well...and be a relatively easy tote over those sand dunes...
Photos when finished would be appreciated. Getting a curvey template in a 10'6" without getting too wide is the challenge. Anything over 22 3/4" wide doesn't suit me.

The glider I’m riding right now has a hard edge in tail, and then transitions to a down rail with still a edge at bottom until about a 1/3rd up board to a 70/30 60/40 and then finally a 50/50 up at nose. The edge extending up from tail really loosens the board up.

PNW between here and there
the 10'6 will be 23 1/4, pretty much a stretched version of this fave 9'8 x 23", which rides shorter than the length, super easy to roll turns on...and handles well OH with ease

asking from those with experience...have some new boards in the pipeline, need to identify what length for a glider...80% fast Oregon beachbreak, 20% travel use down to SoCal and back. Elder still quick to his feet, 6'2 x 180#...thinking 10'6 as an all arounder?
Gliders will not work well in a beach breaks unless the surf is soft such as many of San Diego's beach breaks. That being said , I would go 10'6' to 11'0" and since the goal is to glide , pull in the nose to 14.5 to 15 inches.

I love my Tyler SuperChief 11’. Turns great. Builds speed with stability. It’s really versatile. More than I expected before getting a glider. Adding- inaugural surf was Ventura across from the race track 8-10’. Then San O. Then OcNj 5th St beach break and the Gardens north end and Loveladies, LBI Nj. Point is it works everywhere.
