I have an 8'6". They work well. Don't want to be power surfed. More user friendly hull than more extreme smaller versions. Can replace a longboard on small days but much different surfing technique needed.
I agree with Bigboard. The 8.6 I had was difficult to bury the rail hard off the bottom. Good alternative to a log in lined up surf but at this length they don’t easily create that bottom turn projection that for me is a must in a hull. Pretty forgiving though and a fun trimmer at points.
