5'9 185. Ride a 7'9 x 23" x 2-3/4" Fowler V8. Super versatile board. Always in the rotation for me.
You beat me to the punch. Enjoy!
1. Big boy bing vee? Not sure what's up with the fin (are there side bite boxes??).
2. Interested in what people are writing about the waves they prefer with their vees. I find the chocolate fish billy to be great at mush, fun in peaky but relatively weak beach break, not so sure about hollow waves. Lotsa user error, but the tail is prettty wide.
My fowler V8..loves steep drops....
And if you stylle the bottom turn just right..
You have speed to burn ..down the line
I mostly surf points..reefs...santa cruz
But occasionally..obsf and pacifica...beach breaks..sand bars
Here is a side note..maybe it belongs in the other fowler thread..but here goes
I saw this video of rob machado..who i like and appreciate..
It is on The Inertia..which i oddly do not.....on how he stretched out his seaside model in a larger quad
The seaside and beyond..into small mid length quad fish
.to 7.0..and how it changed things for him..got into waves early..handled all sorts of waves
Big and small..but the glide..is what really got to him..
What really got me..was how much he sounded .like me describing my 8.0 fowler NVM..4+1..
Comparing our builds..im alot bigger..but it sounds like we both have found a sweet spot..
So i guess..my point..do i have one?.oh yeah..i do albiet..longwinded..
I like fowlers..mcquad like andrienis..and dialing his own boards..other like hot gens..
So the key is finding that sweet board..length..style..that gives this
Side point number 2
Which probably has a few jammers
Licking their chops..
Is my torren isnt there yet..or rather i
And i am notoriously impatient..
@Bruce Fowler how would you steer a V8 convert looking for a board that can handle pitching or steeper waves? A shorter V8, or a new v machine? Seems like there is a difference in taste when it comes to equipment for the day. Some folks are riding v-bottoms as a longboard replacement, some fit their vee in between a glider and whatever else ...
Ooops..a Nvm...would be my choice.with 4+1 fin set up....
