Tristan shaping at Pilgrim this summer.
Got excited about jumping on a deposit but then realized I have no wave big enough for a Parlementia haha

The whole avant garde vibe with Pilgrim does kind of annoy me but I really respect this Pilgrim Residency Shaping program. Such a cool idea and a great way to get these awesome shapers boards into some new hands.

Pretty aligned there. I went in the other day and they’re pricing boards almost 50% over what going straight to the shaper would cost. I acted surprised when one of the kids gave me the price (you have to ask and they “check the computer”) and he came back with a snarky “that’s what boards go for these days”.

Funny enough I just had the same board built straight from the shaper for $600 less but ok

Not to hijack the thread but I couldn’t agree more with @hardyw and you—this is a neat program they’re running but Pilgrim really bothers me. The markup on their boards is outrageous, and I can’t help but feel that they value the “supply” side of everything much, much more than the “surf” side. They’re more tolerable than Saturdays, in that regard, but still…

I’ve got 8’0 vee and 7’8 paralleler hull. Both boards really work great. Can’t mess with the foil and craftsmanship. Both mine shaped and glassed in France.

Going for a stretched out MP this time . 8’10 and have been talking with Tristan about this since he started developing it.

I imagine their overhead is pretty high.
