My guess is that the Comet is wider, more like a double ender. I’ve seen more Comets than Hornets.

Comet is 8ft hornet is 8'6' as you can see hornet is flatter, comet a touch wider, hornet a bit fuller in the rails and middle of board. Included pictures comparing to a vintage bing pintail lightweight in 8ft range

Haven’t been able to find a comet for sale so was going to shape my own modified version modeled off the hornet. Nice to see them side by side.
