I joined the weird fin club! Heavily influenced by @Cuttlefish and I have to say they not only work they really liven up the "choad". Only one surf so far but so far so good. I will post some more thoughts after a few more surfs but just wanted to share my froth and stoke. I am also riding the 7-oh in bigger and better waves. FYI the centre fin is an 8" flying diamonds. I have a 9" fcs clique which I will try at some point

Weird hey! It's definitely 3/4" shorter. I looked at the modded Hanalei FLX fin overlaid on my "normal" 10" fin I have been running in the 8'er and the surface area looks pretty close to the same. The novelty in this fin is it's about the initial looseness in starting a turn afforded by its upright narrow base and then the area and flex of the trailing arm maintains the drive and the hold. A matter of finding the desired balance in the looseness, drive, hold ratios.
If you have two identical sized single fins then hold them up in front of you, one in each hand. The one on the right will appear larger. Swap the left fin to your right hand and the one on the right will still look larger.
A mate of mine who was in the shop at the time pointed this out to me.
I was in there comparing two 9" FCS Clique fins as one was the older model with the large holes in the base and the newer one has the solid base. The older one has more apparent layers and the leading edge of the thin was blunter. The fin was also noticeably flexier than the newer one with the solid base. I bought the newer one to try in the 7' Outlier since I used to run a 9" Raido Hull cult flex fin as my standard centre. View attachment 56683 View attachment 56684 View attachment 56685

Are they FCS 2 or 1s ?
The Hanalei sides?
FCS 1.
Edit: after running the 9" Clique centre with Hanalei sides in the Outlier 7'er this morning in weak, knee-thigh high waves that eventually gave me a few runners with a chance to do a re-entry also an oncoming section bash, the 8" clique will be my preferred sub 3' fin as it feels more responsive. The 9" clique should be the go when I want to surf it in 3' plus.

Unfortunately for those of us in the US , the DS sides are only available in gearbox base

5 mins with a grinder and I'd have them converted to fit fcs plugs. As long as there's no cant built in to the base of the gearbox ones compared to the fcs.
;)

That’s so interesting.
I wonder if it’s a left vs right brain thing?
And would someone who’s left handed see a bigger fin on the left?
