Good day Jammers. I am going to order an 8'0" Fowler V8 shortly. Before doing so, I would like to provide a little information about myself to get better feedback on the size and fin configuration of the board I am getting from Bruce. I want the 8'0" because I want to get into waves early and often. I am 47, 5'2" 150 pounds. Short and stocky. I would like to ask anyone who has ridden this board a few questions.

1. What fin configuration did you order for this board and why?
2. Which fin setup do you find yourself riding the board the most...single, two plus one, quad, and so on? Why?

I know @DanSan surfs it exclusively as a single. @Macilious what fin setup are you riding this board as. Thank you in advance for your input. I appreciate it.

Kyle

Thanks for the mention
I do prefer a 9.75 4 A… or rfc
Has a 10 version a little bit different
I’m trying a wider base sunrise boardworks 4A version
However I will open my mind to
Using bigger quads like I do in my
8.6 osprey frankenspud
McCallum or quartet from capt fin co
Good luck

Kyle,
I had an 8'4" V8, single fin. I ordered it single because I prefer the feel, its beauty and simplicity. Bruce sent a 9.75 4A and I had it way forward. I surf the Malibu to County Line area, never traveled with it, honestly never was interested in multi-fin setups. The board is a hot rod, very fun.

I really enjoyed the 8'2 as a quad as well - controllers. Single was good too with a 9.75 4a. If you like to mess around just get the extra boxes seems like you can't go wrong.

As for length I'd even go shorter.... 7'9? It's a super wide board with a lot of girth .... Just my 2 cents

I ride a 7'9" V8. I use the 8.5" Chuck Ames foiled 4A that Bruce sent with the board.
My fin is all the way up in the box at 14" from tail. It's a super fun board in east coast beach break.

Thank you so much Jammers. I really appreciate all your input. I think I will get the extra boxes since I do like to mess around with different fin settings @messierishome. I do love the smooth glide feeling of a single @DanSan, @R1H, and @Ricksurfin. I've been told Bruce's boards are really fun with the fin pushed all the way up @jtsfla.

I have a Knee Machine from Bruce that is 5'8' x 22 3/4 x 2 1/2 with the fin placed in the middle. Its so skatey and fast as a single with two small side bites. I wonder if the differences will be significant between a 7'9" and 8'0" V8 for a guy my size @messierishome and @DanSan.

Again, thank you for your support.

Kyle
