Anyone surf eggs over 9 ft? My friend has a 9'8 Skip egg and I was just wondering what the general thought was on bigger eggs...what are the advantages? I guess if you are not into noseriding that would be one...

I’m interested in seeing what a 9’ + egg looks like.

Some will say that an egg can’t be longer then 7’10” to be a true egg shape. Now that that is not of the way. In the mid 1980s When the surf was small and weak. I surfed a lot of diffrent boards from friends. Mostly Longboards with a Side bits that were very popular then. My friend Mike had a long egg pretty sure it was 9’0” set up as a 2 plus 1 We were surfing Beacons in Leucadia. Mike wanted to try my Pure Fun Shaped by Hank Byzak. I Airbrushed that board to look like an old Balsa wood board. I believe that Mikes board was shaped by Dennis Murphy.
That Long Egg turned much better then my long board. Couldn’t get on the nose that much . Mike could pull off cheater 5s and He could lay that Board over on rail from mid point. I liked that board so much that I had Bill Shursbree Make me an 8’6” Egg. Rode that board in 2 foot weak waves to over head waves in Mexico.

Narrowness mostly, and heft in general.

I love this 9’ egg on the left. Unbelievable projection out of the bottom turn. Just on a side note, I love when we try define what is a type of board & what isn’t.
If it makes you smile, it works A83C88D3-0E95-437D-BA45-BF242E546695.jpeg 7AC618AD-9572-4E1C-B520-C586AA757951.jpeg
