So here’s a question.... ( that I think you need to have an answer to before anyone suggests anything else! )

Granted you don’t want to noseride but how do you want the board to surf? What lines do you want it to draw?

The bandito for example is undoubtedly a fun looking shape but you are still going to surf it in a “loggy” manner. I.e it’s gonna be a kind of stand on the tail to turn and step forward for trimming loggy lines. It’s going to turn in a pivotyish manner and you aren’t going to be floating sections on it.

Something like a magic is going to draw very different lines, arguably it’s a giant egg so it’s going to carve turns in a much more eggish way and perhaps require a bit less footwork, be a bit more down the line flow a bit less stall and go surfing

A parallax is going to feel different again given it’s basically a long hull. Fast high line trim, turns well from the middle but the hully feel isn’t for everyone....

I like the Magic recommendations, especially when considering navigating the crowds and the range of waves it'll function in. You could also opt for the 2+1 configuration for even more variety.

I'll second the Haley Pin and the Parallax. There are both phenomenal in lined up surf and I can say with confidence that you absolutely cannot nose ride either of them. I've tried.

Josh Hall or Mabile Eagle work great in those waves. Can't say enough good things about either of these. Paddle speed, trim, maneuverability, section making...
I would put the Mitsven Mini Glider (Eagle shape) in this category as well for the same reasons. A buddy of mine rode a my 9’6” during the Fiona swell and said it was the best longboard he ever rode. I would definitely go 9’8”-10’ at your weight.

I’ve got an awesome 9’9 Stu kenson log that fits this bill.

Thanks everyone, awesome input.

Leaning toward a magic / Billy Jean shape. Probably twinzer option w/ a single.

Michel Junod can set you up. A zillion years surfing locally, great shaper, relatively reasonable price & delivery time. He offers an all-around non-noserider shape that works great (I've had a couple of them over the years...)
