    CJ Nelson Outlier reviews?

@ JVRI CJ has an 8'0 Outlier and he has surfed it with a 9.5 Involvement fin in G10 material. CJ has done a video review of it at the link below where he explains what fin he uses and why. Notice where he has placed the fin in the fin box. And you can see him surfing it at the surf ranch in...

    Cj Nelson Boards.

My body is in "dry dock" right now since I finally had to" bite the bullet" and go see a spine surgeon for my lower back. When I tried to do a pop-op on my CJ Nelson 9'3" Parallax, I started getting an electrical "jolt" in my lower back. After an MRI, my surgeon told me I had a bone spur...

what are people listening to today?

I have an extensive music library. Lots of songs in it which I've accumulated and which I started when I was a freshman in high school (circa 1964). I just finished working on a woman's computer, turning it into a linux computer. This woman has been coming into the computer shop where I...

    Flying Diamonds fins

I have a 9'3" Parallax single fin longboard in Thunderbolt Red construction. For the waves I find at Surfside and Quintana beaches on the upper Texas coast where I surf, I always take my two Flying Diamonds fins with me.......just in case the waves "predicted" are not what I find when I get to...

    What comes after surfing?

This is going to be a l-o-n-g message, but if you really want to stay on the water after surfing, then there is a logical choice which will allow that. I'm 5'8" tall, weigh a "massive" 143 pounds and I'm 72 years old. Some on this site know I surf a CJ Nelson 9'3" Parallax longboard in...

    Thunderbolt Taylor Jensen/Ben Skinner?

I'm 5'8" and weigh 143 pounds. Most of the waves where I surf at Surfside and Quintana beaches on the upper Texas coast are knee high to head high in height and are slow moving waves. The waves don't have a lot of power in them and with my height and weight, I chose a CJ Nelson single fin 9'3"...

    Your life outside of surfing

It is not my drone. The drone is owned and operated by one of the locals who lives in the area and films the surfers at Surfside and Quintana beaches. I like to find drone videos of surfing because the drone videos show a lot of detail of surfers surfing. The drone video of Haley Otto doing her...

    Your life outside of surfing

@ Maine Logger I'm glad you liked the drone video of Quintana Beach on the upper Texas coast. Since you gave me a public reply, I've got another drone video for longboard surfing and it is located on the middle coast of Texas. This video below is my way of saying, "Thank You, for liking the...

what are people listening to today?

I was working in my garage last night cleaning up my Parallax since it needed just a little "love" to make her look real clean. While I was working, I took my laptop with me to listen to some music while I worked. I did a little searching on YouTube for a cover song with a good beat. This song...

    Your life outside of surfing

@ paipodude & Niau Here in Texas, some of the locals use the name "prone surfboard" for a longboard. Some of the locals call a surfboard a prone surfboard because one lays down on the longboard and paddles out beyond the surf zone to catch a wave to ride. They use these terms to differentiate...

    Your life outside of surfing

I'm 72 years old now and I retired from the maritime industry. I retired when I was 60 years old and I planned on retiring early when I was 23 years old. Do I regret retiring early? Not at all. If you are able to retire early and don't have to worry about finances, go for it. I'm an outdoor...

what are people listening to today?

I know this topic comprises 285 pages, so I hope this song hasn't been duplicated since I'm a relatively new member, but if the song has, maybe not as a cover song by a band. I grew up as a teenager in the 60's. Anything which had to do with "saltwater" was right up my alley so to speak...

Do you still practice your popup?

I'm now 72 years old. I still do surfing and I love it since I started surfing when I was 15 years old. I've got a pinched nerve in my lower right side of my back right above the right pelvis bone. Anyhow, doing a pop-up at my older age, the pinched nerve let me know sometimes it didn't like me...

    Longboard,Shortboard?

@ gunargnar I'm going to be a little technical here, but I'm a stickler for details because from experience; the smallest detail, right or wrong, can make a big difference in how a longboard performs. Below is the fin placement for both of my fins for my 9'3" Parallax since I've fine tuned the...

    Longboard,Shortboard?

Me: 5'8" tall, 143 pounds. Never been interested in a shortboard. I've always loved the glide of a longboard and I started with a longboard when I was 15 years old. BTW, I don't do any nose riding. Just a nice l-o-n-g gliding ride is my preference. With that being said, I ride a single fin CJ...

    CJ Nelson Outlier reviews?

I need a little help to find a CJ Nelson 7'6" Outlier picture. I'll explain below. A while back, I was using one of my two desktop tower computers with it's 27" external monitor. This tower has three hard drives in it. One of the three hard drives in it I use is an experimental hard drive to...

Question for ourvGulf of Mexico Coast Jammers

Just pick a small town, driving distance wise, to Port A. Most of the damage from a hurricane is wind damage and flooding when living in a town, like Port A, which is right on the coast. One doesn't get much wind damage or flooding when one is living a relatively good and safe distance from the...

Question for ourvGulf of Mexico Coast Jammers

I live in southeast Texas so I surf the upper Texas coast. But if we could move, the wife does not want to, we would move to Port Aransas. The middle coast of Texas is nice for surfing and sup surfing at Port Aransas, Texas. Decent small waves most of the time in the knee to waist high range...

    Balance Boards. Beneficial or bogus?

I learned how to surf a longboard when I was 15 years old way back in 1965. For me, it was all about "balance". I used a slack line (strap). What was good back then is still good today. Below is a video of Tia Deighton walking a slack line demonstrating balance.

Fin sizing according to Renny Yater?

I use this tip with my Flying Diamonds Involvement 9.0 and Involvement 9.5 fins when I'm surfing my CJ Nelson 9'3" Parallax surfboard and it works for me. I don't use the "eyeball" method though to get the one third of the fin over the rail. I use a pencil and ruler since my fins are volan green...
