Wayne Okamoto (oakfoils) has shaped my friend some wild twinzers, more in the short board vein. He’s really into em. I borrowed it for one wave so I can’t really speak to it but seems like a good option for going more performance oriented or for a larger surfer.
I was inspired by this thread. Picked up a 5’10 Zippi and a 6’6 Wegener, both with glass on keels. The Zippi is maybe a little too small for me, I’ve tried it a couple times and struggled but I think it might just take some practice. The 6’6 has been incredibly fun. Maybe a little too long to be...
I think I posted here before but I’ve done some changes so here’s the current lineup:
9’8 Davenport 40-65
9’4 Dewey Weber Professional step deck
7’10 Borland twin fin long fish
6’10 Bonzer 5 step up
6’6 Wegener twin fin fish
5’10 Zippi twin fin fish
$40 hot pink boogie board, always in the truck
Had a great week of surf all over Southern California and finished up today with a surprisingly fun session at a usually crummy South Bay spot. No crowd except a group of friends. Been very stoked on my 7’10 long fish. I had no idea what to expect from this shape but it’s been killer in all...
I’ve got a early 60’s Hansen I’m looking to get rid of. Triple stringer, D fin, no serial number that I can find. It’s got its fair share of dings, including two larger ones. There’s a crude repair on the nose, but all in all it’s not in terrible shape. I haven’t found any delams. I was planning...
Mostly commenting to bookmark the thread. Thinking about picking up a fish this summer. I’m 6’3, 240 lbs with about average paddling abilities- I’d like to go as short as possible while still being able to catch waves. These look like the ticket.
It’s a hard lump, usually kinda red. I don’t knee paddle at all, way too fat and uncoordinated for that. I think it just got rubbed raw against the wax, but it’s strange that this happened through the boot. Anyway, got my podiatrist appointment Friday. Might be boogie boarding for a bit!
I’ve tried looking up a bizarre injury I’ve been getting but having no luck. Thought I’d check here in case anyone else has had this experience.
Each time I surf, the joint right above my big toe on my back foot gets swollen to about ping pong ball size (maybe a little less). It’s sore and...
I’m your height and 30 to 50 pounds heavier, about average paddling ability. I had a 5’10 Anderson fish I could catch waves on pretty well and got rid of it for some reason. I’ve messed around on a friend’s 5’8 Russell fish and its possible to catch waves but more work than I really want to do.
