In the X song, I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts, there is a line that goes: "But what about The Minutemen, Fleasheaters, DOA, Big Boys and The Black Flag?"  I had been listening to these bands for years except for the Big Boys.  Finally decided to check them out and got their compilation cd's.  The first is called Skinny Elvis and chronicles their early hardcore years; the second is called Fat Elvis and goes through their later funk-core stuff.  Both are really interesting and clearly a driver for such bands as Red Hot Chili Peppers.

DM-

Good call. X remains one of my favorite bands of all time. I saw them for the first time at the Whisky 31 years ago. They absolutely smoked. Still do, too. I hope to see them when I come to SoCal in a couple weeks.

Downloaded the new Pat Metheny Unity Band album - Kin. At first listen, it's really good!

Totally been changing it up lately. Old school Bluegrass with the legendary Bill Monroe.
