early morning surf
so flat here with little relief in sight and no time for a CA jaunt
Well, there is a little swell source forming underneath Hatteras right now, for the weekend into early next week, bigger South but keep an eye peeled ...
Supposedly Sunday here. Waist to rib plus. Fingers and toes crossed.
Today is International Surf day and I am participating
i'm guessing this weekend will be fun too.
Seeing those rocks brought back bad memories from this past weekend in Montauk. No good way to exit over them in 6 inches of water. Cuts and bruises galore on me feets. Anyone wearing those protective boots made just for this and do they work?
I don't use any kind of feet protection or a leash. my feet are not the prettiest things. my boards have snackles. these low tide mornings make getting in and out interesting, that is for sure.
I used to make what I called "Walkouts". Basically you take the sleeves of an old wetsuit- the lower the mm the better - and cut from the wrist (opening) to your desired length. Put them over your feet - all you really need to cover is from the ball to the heel - and, uh....Walkout.
Once you're out in the lineup or wherever you can either slip them up over your already on wetsuit or take them off and put them either In your suit- if you have a chest zip they tuck in - or down the front or back. Placed carefully you won't even know they are there. Boardshort pockets work well too.
Another really great thing to do with them is use them as a compression brace if you have a bad knee. Works wonders. I used to use the sleeve off an old 5 or 6 mil and Man that was snug and Rad.
Good luck and hope this helped.
