P.O.P. and S.M. surfing from the early 70s:
Really cool story-
also more videos listed with each individual shaper so a fun little rabbitt hole to tumble down. Would really dig seeing the Whole movie and all the boards!
Nice, NoseRideTheWhip. I love the seek-and-skate adventure aspect of this. I'll bet Animal Chin is somewhere in that full pipe.
Yes! Reading Thrasher and Slap in the 90s, I read loads of articles referencing Chin but never saw it. I finally watched it on a slow day of work and was not disappointed. Shout out to P. Gross.
Such a classic! I had it on heavy rotation in my house, but only because they surprisingly enough had a copy on VHS at my local library. The ramp at the end was the big mind-blower at the time. They just rebuilt a replica of that ramp at Woodward in CA. I would almost take a trip out there just to roll up and down it a few times just to say that I did.
Also: Here's one that I always had heard about but never saw back then. Santa Cruz's Wheels of Fire (1987). I watched it for the first time last night and liked the underground feel to it. Some of the street skating is pretty sick, especially from Natas. For those guys to ollie fire hydrants and doing kickflips back in '87 with those clunky fish-shaped boards and no nose kick seems super progressive for the time.
Great article in NYT:
also great surf travel adventure movie in Argentina:
Some good laughs in here... NSR ....
Silky smooth high speed rad rail work hide and go seek barrel fest mid length performance single fin Ripping.
I'll be watching this Many times.
