One of my favs
This is my favorite.
at 2:19 the size of that fin? and how it projects and connects! When I first got my Birch I asked what a good flex fin for a mid length pintail was and after a bit of debate just ended up- happily - hucking a 7.5 Parrish in and the board indeed rips.
Seeing this now I'm stoked and will be poaching my girls 9" L Flex out of her Takayama.
Board in video even has the same color scheme as mine.
Thanks again Planktom- Huge - and everyone that lit this thread up.
Take 4 minutes and watch this video if you can. Smooth fast Barrels!
Cornish bred is John. Top fella and great tube rider... Think he uses a 9in fin in most singles around 7ft to 8ft. I want to say Salty Merchants maybe?
He also has his own label, CMBL, making boards and custom motorcycles, check it out.
Here’s another clip of John in slightly colder surf here in the UK on a self shaped Tracker
The 8’1 looked fun but he really got grooving on that 7’2 Tracker. Really good stuff, surfing, surfer, and setting.
I’ll take everything you got.
Thanks again Planktom
I like everything about this thread! I'm glassing up new 8'2 and 7'2" single fins. I want to call in sick from work and hurry to finish em up now!
Always liked this clip.
Thanks Sean! The first board in that clip really comes around nicely.
Speaking of mid length singles and in your area of the world, how accessible is Andrew Kidman to you? His Single Splice model has been in my sights for a long while, and shy of a very limited run over here in New York, I have yet to see any others.
His work is exceptional- widow makers, channel bottoms, all of it.
You ever come across any of his craft?
Yes! He's a great shaper, but where i live i rarely see his boards. I think Kidman only does customs. That said, i have a NPJ 2+1 which i ride as a single quite often and Neal and Andrew do similar stuff. Loving this thread.
not sure if there are many clips online but Tudors stuff in Surf Movie Reels 1-14 is timeless.
