    Shit happens ALL the time in the Gulf of Mexico. Growing up in Texas we had that most summers. You can find all kinds of amazing animals tucked up in it it. There are sea horses that look exactly like that shit. Little crabs too.

    We’d just climb over it and paddle out. It would gather around your leash and prohibit you from catching a wave. Shit stinks as it rots on th beach.

    The worst is when this sargasso bloom is accompanied with a giant invasion of cabbage head jelly fish, and sea lice.

    Sea lice past few weeks in NJ - covered in itchy welts - but i keep going back for more

    Surfed Elands Bay in South Africa some years ago during a red tide. There were heaps, piles, of dead mussels on the beach, slowly fermenting alongside the kelp. Smelt dee-licious....
