Early surf check showed some morning sickness. Waiting paid off and it got organized by the wind and tide. Stoked to find a few gems!

Got some mini leftovers this am. First surf in a month or so. New Patagonia suit is very warm and not restrictive at all. Water in NY is still not freezing, but cold. I surfed for two hours. Despite the mediocre surf, the winter blues were cured for the time being. Looks like lots of waves in the near future. Excited to get back into the swing of surfing. Swapped fins: long bonzer runners with 7” 4a in my 8’2 thick lizzy. More drive, less slide on harder turns. Wanted to try this set up in larger surf, seems to work well in the smaller stuff as well. Happy days.

The surf at San O cleaned up as the tide came in and produced summer fun 3 footers for cruising. It's always a blast to be out there with only a handful of people. Hoping for the same tomorrow. Had a buddy who is getting back into surfing, do he rode the 10' ITP and I rode the 9'6 Ohana. That board is a lot of fun and not sure I should sell it, but meeting with someone tomorrow who is interested. Picked up my new magic today, what a day.

Conditions today/tonight were killer. Planes landing backwards at Lindbergh is always a good sign.

New Years Day. Bit of a wait for the tide but solid chest high with a few bigger sets. 60 deg air felt good too. Pics are a sequence of a buddy riding his 11' glider.

Shoulder to head-high Lacanau this afternoon to start off the New Year. Was stoked - because the conditions were much better than I expected - but more so because my son asked to borrow my "real" winter suit and hit the water with me. Water at 53, air at a very chilly 35. There was a very good right, but we surfed a left pretty much to ourselves. As someone recently stated on here: the good old days are right now.
