If I was in the market for a vee bottom I would absolutely jump on the order list. Two excellent craftsman with a ton of experience that also enjoy sharing time in the shaping bay. Perfect scenario for anyone looking for a board. Who cares about the "why".

I think that "Rican Havoc" is the Winner and should be screen name that is awarded. An earned honor like an MVP or maybe it should go to ICH or Miscreant. Both seems worthy for different reasons.

I am disappointed they did name the new CoLab "Meredith" or some jumbled form of it (like Deer Mith) since it was something they both seemed to enjoy riding... One could have designed the length and the other the girth. (Footnote AppleCat's post).

I agree with this sentiment. The spark that motivated the board to be built has no impact on its functionality.

I wonder if other shapers that have shaped boards by blending each other’s templates and designs have called it a collaboration? Or did they just do it and carry on? Probably a little of both occur.

It seems like these type boards can be thought of as chimeras.

    Yes!

BTW have you seen Roy's new model? The 19ft 'Reeking Haddock' ?

It's a V bottom, but naturally far superior to anything that you would have seen..

(nod to AK for the Roy memory jog)

    I'm gonna hafta agree here.

Plus, "chimera" is just a fantastic word. So tragically underused.

...and not just in cat circles.

A bit of kudos to M.

Emailed Gene a couple of months back about ordering a V-bottom. He said he's not taking orders but you can get them shaped by Mat at Bing. Fowler has been honing a similar version with heavy vee off the like Gene's for years now.Andreini and Hilbers have a different take with the vee going flat out back. Have not tried the latter ones yet.

    I have coopers v’s. I’ve been a true believer for a while.

I had a Fowler. Nowhere near the same. Sold.

All you chuckleheads with the Collins remarks... it was a brain fart. I’m typing on my phone. Beat it kook. Or continue to masturbate in public online. Whatever’s.

Gene is a v bottom guy. This is not new.

Davenport is a nice guy from my brief interaction with him. He seems to be a well respected glasser. Tyler etc.

Lance CARSON. His reputation stands on its own merit.

I don’t care about the laminate. If gene is pumped on a new v bottom. I’m in. Board can be clear no lams for all I care.
