This is not off topic if you use your $75 to buy new fins. Under two different class action settlements, in cases that I have been working on for over 10 years, anyone who paid for telephone service in Long Beach, CA or the unincorporated areas of LA County between 2005 and 2008 can claim refunds of local taxes that were collected on your telephone bill. It is very easy to do. You can claim a $73.50 refund ($46 mobile and $27.50 landline) without providing any documentation - just fill out the claim form online. Alternatively, you can submit copies of old or recent bills, or consent to have certain carriers provide your tax data, and get a 100% refund of the tax paid on mobile service and 70% of the tax paid on landline service. (There is no guarantee that the carriers will find your data, so submitting bills is the safest route). Go to www.lbtaxrefund.com if you lived in Long Beach between 2005 and 2008, and www.lacountytaxrefund.com if you lived in the unincorporated areas of LA County between 2005 and 2008. It will take a while for you to get your check, but I promise you this is not a scam of any kind.
