Don't go near the water

    In addition to being super aware of the extreme surges of water during sets, what are some of the correct techniques? The oldsters looked very very powerless and clueless against all that water.

    The best thing to do is to practice water survival techniques in a controlled environment. Use of a personal watercraft may also be helpful.

    Well, sort of scary. A buddy of mine has a few photos from the shore break at Waimea on a "flat" day. Tourist lady, who had been warned, was "shelling" right at the water line when an overhead set came and just plain old drilled her into the sand.
