Headed to Chicama, Peru in a couple of weeks for a few days of long left handers. I wanted to ask you guys if you have any advice on bringing boards or renting there. The Chicama hotel has boards for rent but they all look like stock rental boards you find anywhere.

I would take my boards, but my family (including 2 kids under 10) are meeting me in Lima after my solo mission so their gear will take priority over mine. Sigh.

Any suggestions? Is there a shipping service? Is there a local I can rent from who has a nice stash of boards? Any insights would be amazing. Thanks in advance. Cheers guys.

    Great time
I went for 10 days and had a blast
    Great food, wines, surf, staff
Pedro will pick you up in the Zodiac after your 2 minute rides
and take you back to the start to do it again
    They do have boards
    I took 2 boards
If you can, take your fav shorter, faster board and you'll be fine
Looks like you'll be using what is there
You are in the middle of nowhere
The landscape is, like I was on the moon
Tell Pedro, Adam and Papa Blanco say hola
One trip I would like to repeat

I took a vbowls by Ryan Lovelace, I rode that everyday.. knee high- 1’ overhead. Beautiful wave & hotel, tip: don’t eat ceviche that has been sitting for more than 30 min.. you’ll thank me later :)

Went last year and took a 9'9 Terry Martin nose rider with me. I ended up gifting it to a local. My two buddies rented but their selection was lacking. All of the taxis were fine with me strapping my board to their car. Airlines will all have different policies so check on that. While staying at the hotel we met a Brazilian guy named Jao. There are a number of boards hung in the hotel restaurant that belong to him including an old Bing and a couple balsa boards. He ended up letting us all use his boards. Awesome!

If it's only for a few days, less then 4, I would rent due to the small window for swell..

It's been a while since I was there, but it's really out there so idk how reliable shipping is... but the was a while ago

We took our boards, flew into Lima then drove 2 days ( with a local) to chicama

    Either way you'll have fun!
