    So Cal
Out catching some nice waves this morning in Carlsbad. Had about 4 waves under my belt, then a fin pops up about 50 yards from me on the outside. The tip just out the water cruz’n back and forth. It made a turn and the full fin came out of the water about 1.2’ tall and wide. Dudes started freak’n and paddling in as fast as they could I waited to see If it was going to swim away, and then I realized..... oh shit I’m the only out!!
Caught a nice wave in. Life guard on the beach calling everyone out.
    Dang!! Freaky!!

Here in Florida we have "Stitchers", cause that's what they give you. On your side, you have "Head and Shoulders" cause that's what they take!!!!

I went to check it out, tide too high so I didn't go, but there is always a few people out regardless. Nope , not today. Explains why it was empty.

Oh boy! So far I’m not telling my wife. We land in San Diego on the 7th. I guess surfing with a buddy is a must.

At least you knew it was a shark. I saw a single fin off Montauk last month. I was 99% sure it was just a dolphin/porpoise. But I was the only one out with dusk 45 minutes away. Sheer willpower kept me out long enough to catch one last wave in. But you better believe I wasn't letting any limbs dangle while I waited.

Preferably a buddy you can out-paddle.
