    what could have happened?

    struggling with a duck dive?

Once I got my leash wrapped around something on the bottom at Rincon, PR

it was only 5 seconds, but I shitted on my pants.

May be he was hit in the head with the board?

a few weeks ago, i took a step forward on my board and the leash somehow jumped up out of the water and looped around my neck. i instinctually put two thumbs up to my neck to catch it, and the wave almost instantly closed out, launching my 30lb board ahead of me..... i guess my point is, anything could happen out there. poor guy, very sad.

we just had a surfer drown a few days on the Oregon coast during a hefty swell, a well liked physician who loved to surf...

why in my old age I find myself honoring each surf session though I've had many thousands..there are no guarantees for a tomorrow, so drink deeply today...,

    Uh oh, leash police.

I swear officer, it isn't a vintage board. Made in 2006. Check my papers.

Seriously though, when they're over waist high, or breaking heavy, I wear a leash in good ol' NJ.

Board gets away from me - also I don’t feel a tremendous pressure to go leashless. It’s not a big deal to me.

Pressure? What about the pressure of the leash around your neck?
