so i was at the journal the other day speaking about pig gatherings and what not... my buddy there mentioned comments from the thread below and (perhaps) threads other places :

it was entertaining to say the least when you consider the following excerpt in a journal from 2002 about a fella named "Ray Stewart" . apparently this guy "Ray" sent tremendous amounts of material to the journal trying to lure them into doing a feature on him.

my buddy Scott from the Journal sent me the following:

    "Hey Mike,

The attached photo is from a 2002 copy of TSJ. We fielded repeated PR
materials from "Ray." Pezman found his outsider ethos charming enough to
riff on in his "Surfing Around" column.

We have never considered "Ray" for a feature article, never assigned such a
piece, have no knowledge of a reporter/spy/writer named "Dove," and know
nothing of his wife, who "Ray" claims we sought to interview in a piece
designed to injure his "reputation." The entire tale‹which he takes pains to
introduce as "the truth"‹ is a figment. Confirmation of such an endeavor
could have been investigated with an email to us here at TSJ by "Ray"
himself. Of course he didn't do that, as the entire construct is sheer
    fabrication.

    Scott"

Things about Ray/Roy/Stewart/Stuart just seem to get curiouser and curiouser, don't they?

    :shock::shock:

    Eric

PS: Should Interpol get involved? Perhaps Clouseau? :p

PPS: I happen to be listening to "It's A Shame About Ray" by the Lemonheads. Coinkidink? I think not!

Well, I was contacted by a lady from Santa Cruz called Joni Martin, who told me that she writes for the Surfer's Journal and that she wanted to do an interview on behalf of the Journal. She enlisted a photographer from NZ ( Jane Dove Juneau ) and we proceeded from there during June 2008.

Joni behaved as I have described during the two day interview.

If there were any lies involved with the event they certainly didn't come from my camp.

I have just sent this message to Joni:

    "Hi Joni,

A letter has just been published which was written by Scott Hulet from the Surfer's Journal' accusing me of lying when I said that you came to interview me on behalf of the Journal. As I'm sure you can understand this is seriously defamatory and I'd appreciate it if you could email me admin@roystuart.biz to confirm that you told me that you were requesting an interview on behalf of the Journal. I recall that no promise was made to run an article, but that you repeatedly stated that you worked for the Journal and had discussed the interview with them."

    Regards
    Roy
